Who we are

Our Motto

The motto of our school is a synopsis of a simple yet eternal truth championed by Swami Vivekananda Ji: “All power is within you; You can do anything and everything-

Such approach among students assimilate them to being a believer of doer.

Our Vision

Our vision is to make every child believe in themselves. To make them believe that they are second to none. To instill in them such confidence and strength so that each one of them grows and becomes a world mover. Our Motto not only compliments but also sets the path for the vision of our school.

Our Mission

Swami Vivekananda said, “What is education? Is it book-learning? No! Is it diverse knowledge? Not even that! The training by which the current and expression of will are brought under control and become fruitful is EDUCATION! In his scheme of education, Swami Vivekananda lays great stress on physical health because a sound mind resides in a sound body. With his vision for education in mind, The Vivekananda School aims at providing such an education to the students, that they can use for the betterment of their self, society and the world at large.

Our Approach

At The Vivekananda School, we follow the following method of teaching and have ascertained that it is better from the traditional, verbal, writing assignments-based methods of teaching, this enables us to reach out to our students- more efficiently. We try to inculcate various dimensions of intelligence while designing our curriculum.

Gardner’s Theory of

“Anything that is worth teaching can be presented in many different ways. These multiple ways can make use of our multiple intelligences” - Howard Gardner

According to Professor Howard Gardner, Harvard University, the theory in detail proposes that -

“We are able to know the world through language, logical – mathematical analysis, spatial representation, musical thinking, the use of the body to solve problems or make things, an understanding of other individuals and the ways in which such intelligences are invoked and combined to carry out different tasks, solve diverse problems and progress in various domains. “

The ways to foster effective learning include:

  • Words (Linguistic Intelligence)
  • Numbers or logic (Logical-Mathematical Intelligence)
  • Pictures (Spatial Intelligence)
  • Music (Musical Intelligence)
  • Self-reflection (Intrapersonal Intelligence)
  • A physical experience (Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence)
  • A social experience (Interpersonal Intelligence)
  • An experience in the natural world (naturalist intelligence)

This theory is a paradigm shift from how we used to understand our students, their intelligence and how we taught them. It states that every individual has different types of intelligence and best learns through the method that corresponds to his/her intelligence. Our curriculum is designed with activities based on Multiple Intelligence in a manner that develops different fields of intelligence for each student.

Our inquiry-based learning is a form of active learning that starts by posing questions, problems or sceneries rather than simply presenting established facts or data. In this teaching method, students work as explorers, students create a question of their own, obtain evidence themselves, explain the evidence and justify it. This enhances learning experiences for students and fosters curiosity in them. Inquiry-based learning is designed to teach students the joy of learning.

The Vivekananda Way

Development of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspect of every child i.e. we believe in holistic development of every child.

Providing them moral and value education so that they grow to be an ethical and compassionate human being.

Developing an ecosystem where every child and teacher grows up to be a lifelong learner and understands the importance of hard work, perseverance and determination in one's life.

Making them learn by exploration and discovery. Thus making the school a happy place to be in.
Holistic Development

We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one's own feet.

- Swami Vivekananda

TThe Vivekananda School, Gurgaon believes in holistic development of its students and leaves no stone unturned to nurture talent. Our holistic curriculum encourages students to be active learners who explore, understand and participate in the world around them. By exposing students to a wide variety of disciplines we fine-tune both cognitive and non-cognitive skills so as to prepare them for a well-balanced life outside of school

“Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavour always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.”

― Maria Montessori

Dr. Maria Montessori, the author of Absorbent Mind founded The Montessori Method in Italy in early 1900s and her approach to education is shaped around the need of the students.

The three pillars of Montessori Teaching are:

  • Prepared Environment – The first pillar of Montessori Teaching is importance of environment that has calming presence and a sense of order.

  • Materials – The second pillar of Montessori Teaching is to provide materials that are specially designed to provide children hands-on learning experiences.

  • Teachers as Guide – The final pillar of Montessori Teaching is present in the role of Teachers. Children have the freedom to engage in their own learning experience and teacher’s role is to support the child throughout this process.
